This has been a busy week with graphic design jobs, Bread&Butter tradeshow, client appointments, Travel Massive, parties and a wonderful Bodi Bill concert. My body is paying me back with a bad cold today.

I shut my eyes and sail away,
and see and hear no more.

Catching up on things, this has been my entry for SOVA magazine issue #1 with the topic “sleep”. The text comes from “A child’s garden of verses“, an old childrens book from 1902 with good night verses by Robert Louis Stevenson and illustrations by Charles Robinson. Originally I wanted to create a series of that book and I might come back to that soon. Stay tuned.

I’ve been out for a walk in my neighbourhood “Kreuzkölln”* today, because Berlin was treated with some sun. I actually very much appreciate that this winter so far isn’t anything like last winter. No snow. No ice. No freezing cold. Just sometimes a cold breeze, blowing over you to remind you that spring is not yet to come.

* I don’t like this word. I can’t help myself thinking of a motorway junction close to the city of Cologne. But anyway…

Last October I went to Majorca for a couple of days. While doing a Palma city guide, I kind of of felt like being home again. Allthough I’ve been to Palma several times, I never felt it to be so much like Barcelona’s colorful little sister than this time. I love the tiny balconies, the street art and the smell of fresh pastries in every little alleyway.

Kirsten invited me to join the PLAIN collaboration this summer. Several illustrators, designers and artists were asked to use a bunch of Kirsten’s photos as canvas. I created 4 illustrations and the first one made it to the project. The full project can be seen here and has been featured on PAGE Online and Design Made in Germany.

In May I was invited on a press trip to Trøndelag. Visiting the little island Hitra, I went fishing for the first time in my life. I didn’t catch any fish, because I was so amazed by the beautiful rough landscape, that I couldn’t stop staring.

Hello World!

The very first entry on every WordPress blog. Is said hello to the (internet) world many years ago. So “Hello again!”.

The cause for this blog is quite simple: I love to share my work, but I never found the right platform to do so. I had many portfolios, but updating them has always been a pain. I have a flickr, but I rarely use it. I have a tumblr blog since a few years, but that is a very random diary, with very little work in progress pieces. And since the tumblr community developed into something dedicated more on quantity than quality, I don’t feel like putting anything out there anymore. But I also care about all these images on my harddrive. So this blog is another try to keep track of my free work, my everydaylife and my travels. Cheers!
